The Original Is Better, But This Is Still Enjoyable.
26 January 2013 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

This short is a remake of the hysterical 1948 short, Shivering Sherlocks, which was a classic short with Shemp Howard as The Third Stooge. Of Cash And Hash is another funny Three Stooges short film. Of course (and as you might have already expected), the original is better, but I found this one to be funny too, as while there's many bits of footage in the film that's borrowed from the original, but what really helps make this short funny in it's own right is a lot of the new footage, and hey, the Stooges are as funny as always.

Sadly, this would be the last short that would have new footage of Christine McIntyre, who is my favorite supporting actress, my favorite Stooge supporting actor is a tie between Bud Jamison, Vernon Dent, and a few others. Here's my opinion, this short is of course not as good as the original, but I still found it very enjoyable. However, things would have been SOOOOOOOOO much better if the Stooges had been able to perform new material, not remake shorts that weren't all that old to begin with, so the remakes by this time seemed rather pointless if you ask me.

So all in all, while this short is not one of the best Three Stooges short films that you will ever see, it's still very funny, and the new footage is especially funny. I'll give this short another rating of eights stars out of ten. If only they could have made new ones instead of remakes.......oh well, I must get a hold of myself, as all good things must come to an end. So if you love The Three Stooges, then watch this, because you'll like it, and who knows, you may say it's better than the original, it possible that you might.

8/10
