Disney's 'Cinderella': 25 Things You Didn't Know About the Beloved Fairy Tale Classic

15 February 2015 1:00 AM, PST | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

We never get tired of the story of Cinderella, and whether we know it or not, the version we never get tired of is the one put forth by Walt Disney 65 years ago. The 1950 animated feature, released 65 years ago this week (on February 15, 1950) was an instant classic, and its this version we think of when we imagine all the visual details of the story -- the slipper, the pumpkin, the fairy godmother, the mice, and Cinderella and Prince Charming dancing all over the palace grounds.

Still, as many times as we've heard the story or seen the cartoon, there's still more to be mined from the 17th-century fairy tale. (Indeed, Disney is releasing a new live-action retelling next month.) As many times as you've seen the 1950 classic, there's plenty you may not know about it -- how the actress who played Cinderella landed the part without even knowing she'd auditioned, »

The hearts of Pretty Little Liars fans collectively broke during the winter premiere, when Paige (Lindsey Shaw) left Emily (Shay Mitchell) for an A-free existence in California. Luckily, Em wasn't alone for long: She just shared her second steamy kiss with The Brew's new chef, Talia (Miranda Rae Mayo). So, is Mitchell still Team Pailey? "I love working with Lindsey Shaw so much, it's always sad when you know that your story lines aren't going to be together as much," the star tells People. "But at the same time, it's going to be fun having a new character coming to »

101 Dalmatians – The Diamond Edition Blu Review

10 February 2015 12:56 PM, PST | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

101 Dalmatians was one of my favorites films as a child. I generally found that Disney cartoons involving animals, like it and Jungle Book were a lot funnier and less sentimental than all those boring girly fairy-tales like Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs and Sleeping Beauty. I also liked the fact that the action took place not in some fantastic never-never land but in the real England. 101 Dalmatians of course deals with the theft of a litter of Dalmatian puppies by a woman named Cruella De Vil who wants to skin them and turn them into fur coats. The human authorities are baffled, so it falls to the kidnapped puppies’ parents, Pongo and Perdita, to track them down and rescue them- along with a lot more Dalmatian pups acquired by Cruella for the same nefarious purpose.

101 Dalmatians is rather different in look from a lot of earlier Disney cartoons, which were characterized by bright colors. »
