Marshal Matt Dillon is in charge of Dodge City, a town in the wild west where people often have no respect for the law. He deals on a daily basis with the problems associated with frontier life: cattle rustling, gunfights, brawls, standover tactics, and land fraud. Such situations call for sound judgement and brave actions: of which Marshal Dillon has plenty.

(1964-1975) 12 episodes from seasons 10-19 of the longest running prime time show in TV history, starring James Arness as Marshall Matt Dillon, Milburn Stone as Doc Adams and Amanda Blake as Miss Kitty (who left the show one season short of its run). Ken Curtis takes over deputy duty as Festus in season Ten. In Season Twelve it went to color and Buck Taylor joined the cast as gunsmith Newly O'Brien in Season Thirteen (in the episode The Pillagers, featured in Disc 2).

It’s been called the first adult western on TV and the early episodes bear that out, with a psychological depth that was heretofore seen only in the movies.

Features 17 episodes from seasons 1-9, including the series debut episode Matt Gets It (complete with the original John Wayne introduction) and 4 other episodes from the first season, including The Killer with Charles Bronson as a cowardly gunfighter and The Preacher with Chuck Connors as a brutal boxer who fixates on beating up a meek Royal Dano. In Season Seven it expanded to from a tight half hour show to an hour drama.
