Janet Leigh & Robert Mitchum Have a Holiday Affair Saturday Morning December 6th at The Hi-Pointe

14 hours ago | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

Holiday Affair screens Saturday morning December 6th at St. Louis’ fabulous Hi-Pointe Theater (1005 McCausland Ave., St. Louis, Mo). The movie starts at 10:30am and admission is only $5.

Holiday Affair isn’t one of the better-known Christmas films of the ‘40s, and it’s not the fanciest either, as it was made on a fairly small-scale, but it’s extremely pleasant, and doesn’t shove the good cheer down your throat, as so many larger films do. It lets its modest story, concerning a young widow, her son, and the two men who court her during the holiday season, happen naturally, and its unforced quality is one of the most winning things about it.

Janet Leigh sparkles in the lead, and plays her peppy role in a slightly affected yet knowing manner that’s very accomplished for so young an actress (she was just 21). Robert Mitchum, as the beatnick guy who romances her, »

Matt is a charismatic American trying to bring the reserved, secretive Potter out of his shell. Are both men who they appear to be?

"Along the way we see Jon Hamm offering an unusual form of romantic guidance to an inexperienced young man, watch Oona Chaplin thrust headlong into a nightmarish world of 'smart' gadgetry, and explore what might happen if you could 'block' people in real life, »

'X-Men: Days of Future Past', New Spielberg Collection & 'Fargo' On DVD and Blu-ray This Week

X-Men: Days of Future Past It's interesting to me in that I consider X-Men: Days of Future Past one of the best movies of 2014 and the second best blockbuster of the summer behind Edge of Tomorrow and yet I have little to no interest in seeing it again. I've seen plenty of trailers as of late promoting today's release of the DVD and Blu-ray and each time I remember enjoying the movie, but a feeling of meh when it comes to watching it again comes over me. Nevertheless, I can still I say I felt it was a good movie... that one time I saw it.

Fargo Season One Here's a show I need to get back to and finish. Everyone I've talked to and seen comment online has enjoyed it and having already watched three of the ten episodes it only makes sense I finish it.

All I want for Christmas is….Bill Murray singing Christmas carols in a TV special. Looks like it's going to be a very, merry Christmas, indeed. Murray told Variety that he plans to star in a Christmas special for TV in which he'll perform classic carols. The actor would re-team with his Lost in Translation director, Sofia Coppola, for the special, which would also have her at the helm. What's in store: “It’s not going to be live,” Murray says. “We’re going to do it like a little movie. It won’t have a format, but it’s going to have music. »

8 Things Taylor Swift's New Music Video Looks Like

19 August 2014 3:40 PM, PDT | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

For her new single "Shake It Off," Taylor Swift told her fans she wanted to make a song that sounded like nothing she'd ever done before. For the song's video, though, she went in a more familiar direction, taking cues from all manner of popular culture. Take a look at the eight pieces of visual inspiration we've spotted, below. Taylor's Own Music Video for "You Belong With Me:" Taylor's love of awkward dancing (and cheerleader iconography) was evident from an early age. The "Choreography" Scene from White Christmas: Danny Kaye's skewering of modern dance was slightly more barbed than Taylor's gentle ribbing. »

6 August 2014 2:18 PM, PDT | AreYouScreening.com | See recent AreYouScreening news »

A slew of classic Disney movies are hitting for the first time on Blu-Ray, including one double-pack release, and you’re going to want to make sure to pick these up. You haven’t paid attention to some of these titles for a while, and it’s about time you got the chance to catch them on Blu-Ray. The best part is that there’s a great mix of releases hitting. Bedknobs and Broomsticks is all but lost in the cultural consciousness, and it deserves a return. The Academy Award-winning movie from the year I was born is filled with a lot of fun and adventure, and like most Disney films, holds up well for a whole new generation.

The rest of the group covers a great spectrum, including two animated “big” titles, and a 10th Anniversary release. There’s a lot to expose your family to here, so check out all the info below, »

Rainbow Coalition: Top 10 Movie Titles with Color and Substance

1 July 2014 12:23 PM, PDT | SoundOnSight | See recent SoundOnSight news »

Sure, it would be easy to rattle off all sorts of movie titles that feature the name of colors. Go ahead and knock yourself out: The Pink Panther, Red Dawn, Yellow Submarine, Purple Rain, Blue Velvet, Goldfinger, etc. The listing seems rather endless. However, can one come up with color-contained movie titles that also carry some messaging of substance and contemplation?  Maybe films such as Fried Green Tomatoes or Steel Magnolias are color-coated entries that carries some relevance in its messaging about feminine empowerment for instance. In Rainbow Coalition: Top 10 Movie Titles with Color and Substance let us look are the leading selections that have both color (in title) and substance (in thematic forethought) attached to its skin. Hey, maybe one can make a case for Pink Flamingos but The Blue Lagoon might be stretching things a bit…don’t you think? The Rainbow Coalition: Top 10 Movie Titles with Color »

Our Eight Favorite Easter Flicks

10 April 2014 7:02 AM, PDT | Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news »

There may be more Christmas movies than movies set in Canada, and pretty much every horror flick counts as a Halloween flick. Even New Year's Eve has dozens of great movies centered around it, but when it comes to Easter, there's practically nothing. In fact, to the undiscerning eye, it may look like it's easier to pick a movie for Flag Day than it is for Easter—c'mon Hollywood, even Groundhog's Day has, well, Groundhog's Day.

Despite the paucity of obvious candidates, though, there are in fact quite a few good movies for Easter viewing, even for those of us who aren't religious (and if you are, then you don't need us to remind of of staples like The Greatest Story Ever Told or The Last Temptation of Christ). Here's our recommendation for Easter-themed flicks to enjoy that do more to celebrate (or, in many cases, lampoon) the holiday than just featuring a rabbit. »
