Novelist John Justin falls in with Margaret Leighton in a search for the story of her brother
20 October 2016 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

"The Teckman Mystery" (1954) is a Britnoir and spy (via subversion) story. This one easily falls into the above-average group. The cast is first-rate. The story is told with a tone of dash and humor through its main character, John Justin, who is a novelist asked by his publisher (Raymond Huntley) to do a biography of Martin Teckman (Michael Medwin), an inventor whose experimental aircraft crashed but whose remains were not found. His sister, Margaret Leighton, meets Justin at the outset. After Justin interviews George Coulouris, the latter is murdered. An inspector (Duncan Lamont) is on the case and also an intelligence guy, Roland Culver. There's plenty of mystery and movement to keep this story going right to the end.
