Alternate versions for
Senso (1954)

Two versions of the film are available on video.
- One version is missing the scene where Livia tries to explain where all the money meant for the troops went.
- Another version is missing a the climatic battle sequence between the Austrian and Italian troops.
An alternate English version was released with the title "The Wanton Contessa" and features dialogue rewritten by Tennesee Williams and Paul Bowles.
At the end of Robert Osborne's TCM introduction to the film (June 2005) he states: "By the way, what we're about to see is Visconti's original version of this film, not the abbreviated English-language version that originally played in America - so this is a big treat."
