Performer of the Week: Cristin Milioti
The Performer | Cristin Milioti

The Show | Black Mirror

The Episode | “USS Callister” (Dec. 29, 2017)

The Performance | To be clear, the entire crew of Black Mirror‘s terrifically twisty sci-fi adventure deserves a commendation, including Jesse Plemons for his vengeful-nerd fury and Westworld‘s Jimmi Simpson for deftly balancing humor and heartbreak. But even in the midst of a loaded cast, Milioti stood out as “USS Callister’s” plucky heroine, armed with equal parts guts and grace.

Playing new hire Nanette, Milioti was innocent and flirty at first, with Nanette marveling at her boss Robert Daley’s high-tech wizardry. But that innocence

Kiernan Shipka Cast as Sabrina the Teenage Witch!!!

Netflix has found its Sabrina.

The streaming giant has confirmed that Feud alum, Kiernan Shipka has been cast as Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

The new iteration of the comic book is described as “an empowered young woman, half-human, half-witch, [who] is just beginning her dark education as a sorceress, even as she tries to maintain a normal life as a sophomore at Baxter High."

"Intelligent, compassionate and brave to the point of recklessness, Sabrina is all that stands between us and the forces of darkness that threaten our world.”

Despite the original Sabrina the Teenage Witch series being a comedy that was light and campy, the new iteration is said to be a darker approach to the comic book series.

The darker tone worked well for Riverdale, so it seems like the best course of action to keep things dark.

Executive Producer, Roberto Aguirre-Sacassa said the following about the casting of

New on Video: ‘Sabrina’

Written by Billy Wilder, Samuel A. Taylor, and Ernest Lehman

Directed by Billy Wilder

USA, 1954

The past few weeks have been good for Humphrey Bogart on Blu-ray. The Maltese Falcon, Casablanca, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, and The African Queen were recently rereleased and assembled for the Best of Bogart Collection, and now, Sabrina, one of the legendary star’s final films, has received its first American appearance on the format. Perhaps more importantly, if total number of titles available on Blu-ray is the basis for judgment, Sabrina also marks one of disappointingly few Billy Wilder titles available in the remastered form. That the film also stars the radiant Audrey Hepburn and the remarkably versatile William Holden confirms that the release is worth commending.

From about 1944, with Double Indemnity, to Irma la Douce in 1963, Wilder had an astonishing run in Hollywood, and Sabrina came roughly in the middle of that period.

From the Observer archive, 20 January 1957: Humphrey Bogart – a man who could win you over in 30 seconds

The Observer's film critic remembers the tough guy, whose presence alone always made him watchable

Many of us must have been saddened by the news of Humphrey Bogart's death. Some of us have known him on the screen for 21 years. We can remember the day in 1935 when, as "Dook" Mantee in The Petrified Forest, he lounged into the garage cafeteria in the desert and held up waitress Bette Davis, poet Leslie Howard and other benighted travellers at the point of a gun. He was very quiet and sparing of his movements. His voice was rasping, and he had a hint of a lisp, which turned the "S's"into "Sh's". He was lightly built. It took him about 30 seconds to dominate both characters and audience and send a message to the mind that the screen had found a man who must be watched hereafter. We watched him steadily through the remaining 30s,
