"Mac" and "Tosh", Warner's Goofy Gophers did NOT have names at all until ABC-TV'S "The Bugs Bunny Show", made especially for ABC Prime Time by Warner Bros. Studio (1960).

The gophers were an answer to the Disney chipmunk duo Chip n' Dale. Even the British sounding names, plays on Chippendale and Macintosh, are similar. Though the gophers are quite properly British in their speech and demeanor here, unlike the Disney duo.
