This scene may be frightening. The submarine is attacked by a giant squid. This entire sequence is intense. Two characters view a prison/slave camp from a distance, and the beating and whipping of the workers can be seen briefly. In the final scene, before Captain Nemo dies two men fight very brutally with each other and one man is presumed knocked out. Captain Nemo is shot in the back and blood is shown through his jacket.

Captain Nemo uses the word "Hell" in the movie.

Two characters smoke cigars. One character gets drunk.

The giant squid attack may be frightening to younger audiences, as well as the cannibals and the shark. Captain Nemo is shot and suffers several minutes before dying, eyes open to camera.
