Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that, instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, you use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

Close to the beginning of the movie Kirk Douglas comes on the screen with two women who are wearing cleavage revealing dresses. Nothing more.

Violence & Gore

There is one scene where a man is almost attacked by a shark. The shark is shot and its blood is seen in the water. Two men are chased by cannibals after one of them sees several skulls. This scene may be frightening. The submarine is attacked by a giant squid. This entire sequence is intense. Two characters view a prison/slave camp from a distance, and the beating and whipping of the workers can be seen briefly. In the final scene, before Captain Nemo dies two men fight very brutally with each other and one man is presumed knocked out. Captain Nemo is shot in the back and blood is shown through his jacket.

Profanity

None.

Two characters smoke cigars. One character gets drunk.

The giant squid attack may be frightening to younger audiences, as well as the cannibals and the shark. Captain Nemo is shot and suffers several minutes before dying, eyes open to camera.
