Many television airings of this short, such as on ABC, Cartoon Network, the syndicated "Merrie Melodies" show and the now-defunct WB! Station, would delete the entire scene where Bugs Bunny disguises himself as a poor black man and Abraham Lincoln to get to the other side of the Mason-Dixon line. However, whereas the versions shown on ABC, WB and Cartoon Network deleted the blackface/Abraham Lincoln sequence altogether, "Merrie Melodies" showed Bugs Bunny crossing the Mason Dixon line as a poor black man and only cut the part where Bugs Bunny (still in blackface) begs Colonel Sam not to beat him, goes offscreen, and comes in disguised as Abraham Lincoln to get past him and the Mason Dixon line.
In addition, the "Merrie Melodies" show also replaced Colonel Sam being blasted by a cannon with a still shot of Bugs Bunny disguised as a southern blonde.
Cartoon Network versions also deleted the shot of Colonel Sam emerging from a trench (with a Confederate flag waving on top of it) and yelling "Charge!".
