Trivia

Even though she had a starring role, Marilyn Monroe was still under contract to 20th Century-Fox as a stock actor at a fixed salary, so she actually made less money than her make-up man did. See more »

Goofs

Polly is relaxing in a chaise lounge facing northeast when Ray comes out of the cabin casting a strong shadow pointing southwest. He stops by her feet and HER shadow falls on HIM. He then says the light is just right to photograph her and steps back a few feet -- calling our attention to the fact that he now has four shadows, the strongest ones pointing north and northeast. Seconds later, Rose enters the scene, casting onto Polly a metaphorically appropriate shadow... that points northwest. See more »

Great Cotten and sexy Monroe
23 May 2000 | by (somerset, nj) – See all my reviews

Joseph Cotten was an outstanding actor whose talents have been terribly under-appreciated. He is great in this movie as an abusive husband. The very sexy Marilyn Monroe is his wife, who is having an affair with another man. They meet a pair of young newlyweds on their honeymoon. Max Showalter as the young husband is one of the most annoying characters I've ever seen. Jean Peters as his bride does the unthinkable, managing to look almost as beautiful as Marilyn herself.

This is a suspenseful and entertaining movie, which makes great use of the scenery surrounding Niagara Falls.
