- In the 35th of 38 in the "Rocky Lane (and His Stallion Black Jack)" series from Republic, Marshal Rocky Lane (Allan Lane) watches as Bill Anderson (William Henry as Bill Henry) makes a staged, unknown to him, escape over the prison wall. Rocky follows Anderson in the hope that he will lead him to some unrecovered bank money and also possibly clear himself, as Rocky isn't convinced Anderson wasn't framed. Anderson returns to his hometown and confronts town banker Henry Mason (Roy Barcroft). Rocky attempts to arrest Anderson for his own protection but the latter escapes. Rocky's investigation reveals that Mason was the guilty party and is behind a scheme to make a tremendous profit on land sales to the railroad. Nugget Clark (Eddy Waller), head of the rancher's association, and his niece Martha (Phyllis Coates), are fooled by Mason's smooth-talking propositions, but Rocky comes through with the evidence against Mason, and is able to clear Anderson.—Les Adams <longhorn1939@suddenlink.net>
