With a name like that, it should have been weirder
When I saw the title of this serial, I was expecting something along the lines of a cross between Ed Wood and Commando Cody. What I got was a fairly routine chapter play about a foreign power wanting to set up missile sites in Canada to destroy US cities.
It is really pretty enjoyable, as far as early fifties serials go (the genre was on its last legs). There is a reasonable amount of location footage in the Northwest (or at least what looks like the Northwest) and it actually doesn't appear to be stock footage from some other production (though I may be wrong about that). The cast is fairly pleasant if bland. About the only actor the average viewer will recognize is Hank Patterson, known for Mr. Ziffel in Green Acres (and fun cameos in Earth Vs. The Spider and The Amazing Colossal Man).
Canadian Mounties Vs. Atomic Invaders is a nice little serial...nothing to really go out of your way for...but a good example of a fifties serial.
