A Cute Glenn Ford Film
29 April 2010 | by (Paradise, California) – See all my reviews

I don't agree with one of the other reviewers of this film who said that Glenn Ford was too old for the main character at an elderly 36. Thirty-six is not old - believe me - my father died at 36 and when you are only 36, you leave behind small children and you are not OLD.

This film has some very funny scenes and Glenn Ford is just the right age as a young father with a wife and small children who decides to move to California. There are several "laugh out loud" scenes in the film, with Ford as the nervous husband. I think Glenn Ford was second only to Jack Lemmon in playing those 50s and 60s nervous man comedy roles.

I enjoyed this film and gave it a 7 out of 10. It certainly wasn't the best movie I've ever seen, but it was entertaining enough. Robert Osborne said that the director of the film had moved to MGM and hated their system, so maybe thats why this movie didn't carry the comedic punch it needed. Anyway, I still think the worst Glenn Ford film is a heck of a lot more fun to watch than the best Matthew McConaughey.
