'Top Chef Seattle' recap: C.J. Jacobson packs his knives again with Tyler Wiard in double elmination

5 December 2012 10:23 PM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

"Top Chef Seattle" is back with another surprise double elimination -- and this time, no winner.

As the episode opens, we find out it's Stefan Richter's birthday, and he's worried this is the day he'll be kicked off. "When I was competing in New York," he says, "everybody got kicked off on their birthday, and I was like 'birthday curse' -- f**k, no. I don't want to go home on my fortieth birthday."

Forewarning? Hmm ... turns out, not so much.

Quick-Fire Challenge

The cheftestants meet Padma Lakshmi and guest judge, Seattle chef Daisley Gordon at Pike's Place Market. The chefs are told to divide into teams of two, and as usual, some are less than pleased with the chef they've been stuck with. They're told their challenge is to make break fast to go ... on a stick, for 50 of the market's workers. They're given one hour to set »

Food Network's 'Sugar Dome' concocts a sweet rivalry

25 November 2012 10:00 AM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

Revenge is sweet, but so is victory for the diverse experts who create the most stunning works of food art in "Sugar Dome," a new competitive reality series premiering Sunday, Nov. 25, on Food Network.

Each episode finds three teams composed of artists from different disciplines competing to create breathtaking works with an edible component. On each team, cake designers, sugar artists and/or chocolatiers collaborate with a third partner ranging from a graffiti artist to a muralist to a pyrotechnics expert, with their results judged by cake designer Paulette Goto, pastry chef Pichet Ong and a third rotating guest judge.

"When I was told about the premise, I was so excited because this really has not been done before," Goto tells Zap2it. "Yes, there have been the standard pastry and cake competitions on TV, but this is not like anything you've seen before, because they're taking people -- cake artists, »

America's Next Top Model 19.09 "The Girls Go to Jamaica" Recap

26 October 2012 8:31 PM, PDT | | See recent news »

America's Next Top Model left off last week with a decision that will have major implications for the rest of cycle 19. One of the eliminated contestants would get a chance to re-enter the competition and make another run at the title, which could go one of two ways. Either the girl that comes back will be on a roll, having won over the social media crowd, and challenge for the top spot, or she would go from being the big fish in a small pond to a guppy in a the Top Model ocean and not live up to the opportunity that she had been afforded. If the right girl managed to get plucked from a near-elimination and dropped back into the competition, there could be trouble for the current favorites.

"The Challenge: Battle of the Seasons" (1.1): "I think they have kissed penises"

Ahoy. It’s Season 23 of MTV’s The Challenge, where former Real World cast members are thrown together into teams that compete for lots of money. Along the way, they get drunk, brawl and hook up. And there is a hot tub. It’s like Jersey Shore meets the X-Games, and this season is the first post-Hunger Games Challenge, so you really think someone is going to die in the arena. But this is MTV, kids, and they don’t create snuff films, so if you really want to eliminate one of the cast members permanently, write fan fiction – because there is no end in sight for The Challenge. Everyone is just going to come back – over, and over and over again, season after season, whether you like it or not.

Among this season’s competitors is Sam McGinn from San Diego, »

The Apprentice candidates set up second-hand shops in London's Brick Lane

Good evening, and welcome to The Apprentice Week 4 liveblog! Tonight is going to be a totally Rubbish task, full of Wasters and…oh, I haven't got the heart for it. I think I may have over-punned last week.

Tonight our teams are trying to make a profit out of second hand rubbish. We know this is possible, because 84% of daytime television is dedicated to this very pursuit. Whether our intrepid would-be entrepreneurs are any good at it, however, is an entirely different matter. Bear in mind they can't even get ketchup into a bottle.

Essentially the teams have to buy a load of tat from auctions, junk shops and car boot sales, then have a one-day sale at a second-hand shop in the trendy bit of the East End – and whoever makes the most profit wins. This is easy, »

Advertising gets a new spotlight in April with the premiere of the AMC reality series, "The Pitch," an inside look at how creative agencies compete to prove their ideas are the best. Though the real-life experience may not be as glitzy glam as the world of "Mad Men," the  series provides a fascinating take on the difficulties of creative gimmicking, the struggle to both stumble upon a golden thought, and convince someone else of its worth.

"It [advertising] is a certain industry where you survive by pitching, that's the prerequisite to win business," longtime ad executive Court Crandall explains to Zap2It.

Crandall is currently the Executive Creative Director at Wdcw, one of two agencies featured in the show's premiere.

"My dad was in advertising in that ["Mad Men"] era so I certainly watched the old-fashioned drinking. I think it's depicted as a little more glamorous than it was, but most of it's pretty accurate. »

Xbox 360 Review: Gotham City Impostors (Xbla)

15 February 2012 10:39 PM, PST | | See recent news »

With The Dark Knight Rises coming to theaters and gamers still high off of Batman: Arkham City, it’s the perfect time to introduce something new to the Batman franchise. Warner Bros Interactive decided to capitalize off of everyone’s love for the world’s greatest detective (outside of Sherlock Holmes) and online shooters like Modern Warfare 3. Gotham City Impostors is a first-person shooter game that really has nothing to do with Batman at all. This game is all about poking fun at the Dark Knight and his rival the Joker, while giving you yet another shooter to play online. So if for some odd reason you find yourself lacking another Fps, then you can hop right into Gotham City, slap on a pair of tights and battle it out in a game of fake Jokers versus overweight Batmen for a steep $15. In truth, there is a lot of addictive, »

‘The Biggest Loser’ Season 13 Episode 4 Review: Week 4 Tests Strength & Knowledge

25 January 2012 1:07 PM, PST | | See recent news »

What fascinating episode of The Biggest Loser this week. The “No Excuses” theme was tested beyond belief, unfortunately making quite a joke out of the theme. Knowledge was tested and one team failed miserably to answer any questions correctly. Talk about embarrassing with all that they are learning at the ranch. The weigh in was rather successful except for one loner who only lost two lbs. And the elimination did not bring any surprises, only relief. This hour long episode is definitely going to stand out this season but not for good reason! Things did turn around by the end but the matter of dedication is being tested every day so who knows what will happen next.

Week Four began with an obstacle course with quite an intriguing prize. Lots of people use the excuse of not having a gym to work out, so The Biggest Loser decided to test that theory. »
