Towards the film' s end, Fay id bound & gagged. The initial scene shows the gag to be spotted. A few scenes later it has V - shaped stripes.
When reciting the ingredients of Jolly's coffee, June Elvin puts them in a different order to how he gave them to her (and how he responds).
Fay pulls the emergency cord, stopping the train, after the carriage intruder seemingly leaps to his death. The conductor speaks with them, and concludes that - following inevitable conversations with the police at Crewe station - "what with all this delay, we shan't get in [to Manchester] until close on three"; judging from the next scene he's actually correct. However he has absolutely no way of knowing how long the police will want to interrogate passengers for, nor even if they'll allow the train to finish its journey.
