Storyline
Mr. Magoo is hired by his neighbors to babysit their little son, Homer. Magoo is delighted to accept but, unfortunately, a notorious cat burglar is intent on entering and robbing the house Magoo is babysitting it. To make matters worse, Magoo is constantly confusing Homer with the family dog and vice versa. When the thief finally breaks in, all chaos breaks loose but everything turns out all right in the end when the thief is apprehended thanks to the dog who is more alert than Magoo was. Written by

The film was banned in Egypt, because Mr. Magoo was wearing a fez hat. After this short, UPA was required not to allow Mr. Magoo wear fez hats again.

This short was nominated for an Oscar and is one of the better Magoo cartoons produced by UPA for theatrical release. A typical Magoo short, it places Magoo in a situation that makes his nearsightedness an issue and a series of comical circumstances arising from that shortcoming ensues. The Magoo cartoons have lately been targeted as being insensitive and degrading. Somewhere along the way we've lost our senses of perspective and humor. I'm glad to see some of the Magoos in print. Recommended.
