"Gigantic" Delayed After "Ralph 2" News

30 June 2016 11:03 AM, PDT | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

In the wake of today's announcement by Disney Animation that the "Wreck-It Ralph" sequel has scored a March 9th 2018 release date, Disney Pictures have now moved up the Jack and the Beanstalk animated feature "Gigantic".

Originally slated for that date, the film will now be pushed to a Thanksgiving launch on Wednesday, November 21st 2018. The project was first announced at D23 last summer with Nathan Greno ("Tangled") set to direct.

In "Gigantic," Jack goes up the tall plant and teams with a 60-foot tall, eleven-year-old girl giant named Inma. He agrees to help her find her way home. On top of the beanstalk, Jack encounters an entire world of giants from lots of different cultures.

Oscar-winning "Frozen" team Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez are set to provide the music. »

Wreck-It Ralph 2 Announced

30 June 2016 11:00 AM, PDT | www.themoviebit.com | See recent TheMovieBit news »

It’s been four years since Wreck-It Ralph hit our screens, and ever since the end credits rolled, we’ve been waiting patiently for the return of John C. Reilly’s lovable Donkey Kong rip-off. Now, that wait is over, with Disney announcing that Wreck-It Ralph 2 is set for release on March 9th 2018, putting back the Jack and the Beanstalk inspired Gigantic, which originally had that release date, to November 21st 2018. We also get our first image from the long sought after sequel, hinting at the fact Ralph and Penelope will be going from the arcade to the Internet. Both Reilly and Sarah Silverman will return as their beloved characters, as well as returning director Rich Moore. Just the announcement would be enough to get me excited, but if Moore and co. can weave the same magic with the Internet as they did with classic arcade games, this movie can’t come quick enough. »

First Reviews For Steven Spielberg’s The Bfg Are Mixed

14 May 2016 3:33 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

The Cannes Film Festival is now well underway, with many highly anticipated movies making their debut at the prestigious event. One such flick is Steven Spielberg’s The Bfg, which premiered this weekend to a somewhat mixed response. According to the reviews we’ve seen, it’s certainly not a bad movie, but it’s also far from the director’s best.

The issue seems to be that while The Bfg is a faithful treatment of the beloved source material, it relies too heavily on CGI, drags on with too much dialogue and plays it fairly safe, presenting a by the numbers adaptation that may please people who are looking for that sort of thing, but won’t strike a chord with a wider audience.

For more, check out some excerpts below that we’ve gathered from around the web:
