Storyline

Claudia Rankin's husband of one hour is murdered after they stop on an isolated road. When the police appear, to her, to be taking their time about finding the killer, Claudia changes her name and appearance and starts her own investigation. Her disappearance becomes a problem for the Missing Person Department, and they track her down. They also discover just how close she is to the solution of her husband's murder, and the location of a gang of car hijackers who operate in remote "lover's lanes." Penny Edwards goes undercover to find the killer of her newlywed husband
19 July 2014 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

"Missing Women" is a nifty one hour noir. It's well-scripted, moves right along on a no-nonsense path, and holds plenty of suspense. Penny Edwards plays a newlywed whose husband is shot and killed by car thieves on their wedding day as they motor to their honeymoon. The two thieves are John Alvin and James Millican. The boss of their ring is Robert Shayne. During her police questioning, Edwards gets the idea of going undercover after she learns how car theft rings use women in their operations. She slips out of the police station and goes missing from her parents. That's where the missing persons bureau comes into the story as police search for her. But she's carrying out her plan to infiltrate an auto theft gang and get information about Alvin and Millican if she can.

This setup, as is typical of most undercover stories, builds quite a lot of suspense, especially since she is being sought by police. Even though she has changed her appearance, she might be recognized.

Nicely-done picture all the way around. ADDENDUM: June, 2017. Watched it again, and it's still good. A far better print is now available and on YouTube.
