Based on a story by Jean Z. Owen] titled "Mrs. Hoyle and the Hotel Royalstom", published in the magazine Good Housekeeping in the January 1, 1944 issue.
The pinball machine on the left in the lobby of the hotel is a "Trade Winds" model by Genco Manufacturing Company of Chicago, Illinois which made 2,517 from March to May, 1948. The one on the right is "Alice" (after Lewis Carroll's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland") by the D. Gottlieb & Company of Chicago, Illinois, which made 1000 of the machines from 1947-48.
The Bible verse Mrs. Hoyle quotes at her ceremony is from Proverbs 4:10-11.
