Freddie the Freeloader happens to witness a murder in the park, but the killer knocks him out and sets him up to look like he did it. The police hold him for a while but let him go, convinced he's innocent. Out again, he returns to his home in the junk yard, but the killer is waiting for him-to silence him.
Working in a New York high rise office, Appleby is under pressure to be more productive from his tyrannical boss. Two of his co-workers talk him into putting a highly critical note in the suggestion box. He does, but the boss offers him a raise and a promotion if he'll come to a conference with a big client. Unable to retrieve the note or his arm from the box, he takes it with him to the meeting.
George Appleby's middle-aged wife (Audrey) has formed a fan club for an obnoxious rock n' roll idol(Rydell). When he stays for a visit, the house is besieged by teenage girls, and George is the one who makes sacrifices. In the Silent Spot, Red plays an aging film hero trying desperately to appear youthful.
