8 Iconic I Love Lucy Looks to Channel This Halloween

24 August 2016 3:35 PM, PDT | POPSUGAR | See recent BuzzSugar news »

I Love Lucy first premiered way back in October 1951, but the show and its star, Lucille Ball, still become favorites with each new generation. While the show deals with simple things in the most hilarious ways (remember when Lucy uses too much yeast while making bread?), the actress carried it to a whole new level. She was one of the first women to take on physical comedy, frequently letting her body's movements provide genuine laugh-out-loud moments (remember when she stuffed dozens of eggs down her shirt before dancing with Ricky?). Now, almost 65 years later, you still see her pop up during Halloween. But while classic Lucy is always a good look, we've rounded up some of her more memorable TV moments, from her desperate and constant attempts at being a star to her hilarious everyday mishaps. The Top Ten Funny Ladies of the Movies

7 August 2016 10:29 PM, PDT | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

The recent box office success of The Boss firmly establishes Melissa McCarthy as the current queen of movie comedies (Amy Schumer could be a new contender after an impressive debut last Summer with Trainwreck), but let us think back about those other funny ladies of filmdom. So while we’re enjoying the female reboot/re-imagining of Ghostbusters and those Bad Moms, here’s a top ten list that will hopefully inspire lots of laughter and cause you to search out some classic comedies. It’s tough to narrow them down to ten, but we’ll do our best, beginning with… 10. Eve Arden The droll Ms. Arden represents the comic sidekicks who will attempt to puncture the pomposity of the leading ladies with a well-placed wisecrack (see also the great Thelma Ritter in Rear Window). Her career began in the early 1930’s with great bit roles in Stage Door and Dancing Lady. »

There's the Lucy We Love! Get a First Look at the New Lucille Ball Statue

It looks like Lucy's got that Vitametavegamin taste out of her mouth - she's finally smiling! People can exclusively unveil the replacement statue for "Scary Lucy," the bronze work of art in the town of Celoron, New York, that made a menacing figure out iconic (and quite beautiful) comedian Lucille Ball. The new statue, created by sculptor Carolyn Palmer to replace the original work of art, is much more lifelike and features Ball in a polka dot dress. Ball is standing - at 6 ft. tall - on a copy of her Hollywood star, and has a purse on her wrist »

Killjoys Season 2 Episode 6 Review: I Love Lucy

5 August 2016 8:19 PM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Fembot Lucy was everything. And that kiss, you guys! 'Nuff said.

How do Michelle Lovretta and her writing team manage to cram so much sci-fi goodness into one episode? Every week I say, "That was my favorite Killjoys episode." This week with Killjoys Season 2 Episode 6, it's absolutely true.

Tons of new info was revealed. Yeah this was a good one!

This episode's opening echoed the nasty Skeevers of the last installment, only slightly more fun. For a moment, I had no idea who the hooded dude was though he sounded like D'avin. "You gave me acid?" D'av asked the old trickster.

Wasn't it hilarious the way the old fart took off thinking he'd outsmarted a pair of Killjoys? Good thing little brother was around and had a plan. Those brotherly moments between Luke and Aaron are super believable. They're a blast to watch!

Throw Dutch into the mix and that's »

‘Killjoys’ Sneak Peek: Johnny’s Keeping Secrets (Video)

5 August 2016 2:20 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

As Syfy’s “Killjoys” delves deeper into its action-packed second season (read Mo Ryan’s glowing review here), the mysteries and secrets are starting to stack up, and our intrepid band of interplanetary bounty hunters aren’t being particularly forthcoming with each other. That’s especially true of Johnny Jaqobis (Aaron Ashmore), who’s being pretty cagey about his relationship with Pawter Simms (Sarah Power) and their ballsy plan to bring down the wall around Old Town — especially since that scheme conflicts with the Rac’s central code of impartiality that insists “The Warrant is all.”

Johnny is hiding things from his brother, D’avin (Luke Macfarlane) and partner Dutch (Hannah John-Kamen), and it seems like only a matter of time before something has to give — in Variety’s exclusive sneak peek from episode 206, titled “I Love Lucy,” we see just what an awkward position Johnny has gotten himself into. From ‘Master of None’ to ‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,’ First-Time Showrunners Make an Impact

2 August 2016 8:00 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

In the era of peak TV, there’s no single path to becoming a showrunner.

Writers used to work their way up through a system and patiently wait their turn to run their own show. But the proliferation of outlets, increasing demand for bold content, and opportunities to scale a show to specific creative needs have combined to open the door for showrunners of various backgrounds and experience levels.

Six freshman series from the past year made Variety’s TV Producers Impact List with first-time showrunners at the helm: Showtime’s “Billions,” NBC’s “The Carmichael Show,” The CW’s “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” Netflix’s “Master of None,” Hulu’s “The Path,” and Wgn’s “Underground.” The only common link among the six is that they don’t conform to traditional notions of TV.

Take “Master of None,” a star vehicle for former “Parks and Recreation” cast member Aziz Ansari, that he created with “Parks” writer Alan Yang. While »

So Long, 'Scary Lucy'! Replacement Lucille Ball Statue to Be Unveiled on What Would Have Been the Star's 105th Birthday

2 August 2016 7:00 AM, PDT | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

Residents of Celoron, New York, can officially rest easy - that "Scary Lucy" statue is on its way out. The now-notorious life-size bronze statue of Lucille Ball, erected in 2009, became a viral sensation last year after being mocked for its eerie stare, toothy grin and general lack of likeness to the actress - hence earning it the nickname "Scary Lucy" and "Ugly Lucy." Now, a less frightening statue of the star is set to replace the original in her hometown of Celoron, with an unveiling this Saturday on what would have been Ball's 105th birthday.According to Entertainment Weekly, the new statue, »

Killjoys Season 2 Episode 5 Review: Meet the Parents

30 July 2016 8:30 AM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

I'll be honest, I can't say I'll miss Pawter's folks even though they went out heroes.

Both teams spent time with their wretched parents, but we quickly realized the elders were being tough attempting to make their kids stronger. Was the time wasted worth it though? Killjoys Season 2 Episode 5 proved there's always room for forgiveness.

There were so many great comedic moments here. Man, I just love Johnny Jaqobis.

Watch Killjoys Season 2 Episode 5 Online

Sure, I realize the Killjoys still have to chase warrants while piecing together the larger mysteries of the Quad, but man those "voice-box" Skeever dudes were just plain nasty. Weren't they?

I was hoping this installment might pick up with Khlyen and Fancy Lee, but I guess they had to get the action sequence out of the way early.

Since Johnny's scenes were going to take place on Qresh with Pawter and her parents, I was »

Review: "I Love Lucy- The Complete Series" DVD Boxed Set

Review by Adrian Smith

When I Love Lucy debuted on American television in 1951, nobody could have suspected that it would become one of the most beloved shows of all time. Across six seasons Lucille Ball and her real-life husband, Cuban band leader Desi Arnaz, shared their lives with millions. At the time it was the most watched show in the United States, and undoubtedly helped fuel TV set sales during the decade. It has also been repeated constantly since, and sold around the world. Now, almost sixty years since the final episode, it is possible to go back and view it all from the beginning.

Keeping their own names helped further blur the line between the show and reality in the minds of the audience, and watching Desi and Lucy every week felt like you were spending time with real friends. For the most part the situations played out in »
