Ruthless Mickey Knox knocks over a payroll and is pursued by Kent Taylor
28 October 2013 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

The other reviews do a good job here. I can't add too much. This is a tough film noir, and it's an above average b-film. It's well worth seeing, especially for fans of crime and noir films or for anyone who wants to come to appreciate these older movies.

It's the character played by Mickey Knox and his acting of it that make this so tough. He has no conscience. He's ruthless. He's driven and he gives in to his worst instincts. They include murder.

His father has hopes for him and can't believe that he can't be tamed. That is tragic.

Kent Taylor, as always, is smooth as a detective, this time working for the railroad whose payroll Knox has stolen. Sheila Ryan is his love interest, her brother, Robert Lowery, having been killed very near the beginning of the film.

The outdoor location photography and a subplot involving bums who ride the rails add to the grittiness of this film.
