Off-Kilter Han Solo Story Was Inspired by Big Lebowski and Unforgiven
Solo: A Star Wars Story screenwriters Lawrence and Jon Kasdan recently talked about some of their influences while writing the movie, and the Coen Brothers' cult classic The Big Lebowski came up along with Michael Mann's Heat. In addition, the father and son screenwriting duo reveal that Solo will be the most "off-kilter" Star Wars movie released thus far, which has typically divided the fan base that was already divided about the movie in the first place. Humor was always going to be a factor in a movie about a young Han Solo and hints of The Big Lebowski are pretty intriguing, at least light years more intriguing than Ace Ventura.

In a new interview, Lawrence and Jon Kasdan talked about the influences that they had in mind for Solo when they were writing it and they came from some unlikely sources. In addition to The Big Lebowski, the

Blackbeard The Pirate (1952) – DVD Review

Another summer movie season and another Pirates of the Caribbean movie. What? You didn’t know there was yet another in the franchise that wore out its welcome a long time ago? I didn’t and I’ve seen a lot of movies this summer. In a summer of Wonder Woman and Dunkirk, as well as Baby Driver, Logan Lucky and Detroit it would be very easy for another Pirates of the Caribbean movie to get lost in the shuffle.

So let’s talk about a real pirate movie, from 1952 Blackbeard the Pirate, directed by Raoul Walsh and starring Robert Newton, Linda Darnell, William Bendix, and Keith Andes. Newton is to pirate movies

Home Entertainment Review: ‘Black Sails’ Season 4

On August 28th, season four of the acclaimed Black Sails will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray, alongside the complete collection, containing all four seasons, also available in both formats. Since the initial debut of season one back in 2014, Black Sails has attracted a cult following, and has often been described as Game of Thrones with pirates.

Set in the mid-1700s, the TV series presents an original back story to the well-known Treasure Island book written by Robert Lewis Stevenson. Whilst Black Sails shares several characters with the book, its own story has many differences and is more of a homage to Stevenson’s work rather than a direct prequel. Like the book, Black Sails does feature several pirates known to have lived in real life, such as Charles Vane (Jack McGowan), Black Beard (Ray Stevenson), Jack Rackham (Toby Schmitz) and Anne Bonny (Clara Paget), which adds an

23 Reasons You Should Finally Go to Bonnaroo This Year

"Stop pretending like you might not go to Bonnaroo this year," my boyfriend said a few months before last year's festival. I attended the Manchester, Tn, music festival for the first time in 2015, and as the June date approached for the 15th-annual event, I was still coming to terms with the fact that I'd become a Bonnaroovian. I've attended countless music festivals over the past 20 years - including Lollapalooza and Pitchfork in Chicago and Outside Lands and Treasure Island in San Francisco - but Bonnaroo felt different. For years, I've dismissed the Burning Man people who've tried to tell me I just won't understand until I try it, because I'd always rather spend my money on live music. But after just one time attending Bonnaroo, I think it's my Burning Man. I attended for the second time this year, and I doubt it will be my last. Fair warning: Bonnaroo is not for everyone.

“Pirates of the Caribbean” sets sail for one more adventure at sea, in what is being hinted to be the final chapter in the franchise, Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. The bad being having to endure an over-long, nonsensical plot with sporadic moments of entertainment to get there.

Ok, everyone has a guilty pleasure, and mine might be pirates. As a fan of all things pirate, including silly pirate movies, it was a delight when the first Pirates Of The Caribbean, Disney’s attempt to turn an amusement park ride into a movie,
