Woolburg's is a spoof on the dime store F.W. Woolworth.
Daffy has been depicted as married in at least six cartoon shorts, though his wife usually is nameless. This is his first characterization as a stepfather.
The plotline of a male marrying a domineering woman for the sake of money would be used in several more cartoon shorts over the years. Both Yosemite Sam (in 1962's "Honey's Money") and Ratfink (in 1970's "A Taste of Money") would suffer similar fates. All three henpecked husbands had to deal with an obnoxious stepson, too.
Daffy wears a Shriners hat as he studies the Racing Form, before his marital duties change.
Daffy's new abode is furnished with the very latest must haves, including a piano, a large console radio (TV was just being introduced) and a standing ash try, so that smokers didn't have to get up from their chair.
