A child-prodigy runs away to Gene's ranch carrying his priceless Stradivarius violin. A crooked ranch hand decides to steal the fiddle and find out exactly how much a "priceless" musical instrument is worth.
Gene and Pat's plans to go fishing are sidetracked when they must help a small town Sheriff round up a gang of stagecoach robbers who have shifted the blame for their crimes on to the son of the local Indian Chief.
A hard-headed young woman inherits the ranch where Gene and Pat are working and won't honor the verbal monetary agreement Gene had with the former owner. At Pat's instigation, Gene and the other ranch hands try to convince the new owner that the ranch is haunted.
Pat and Gene pretend to be bitter enemies in order to smoke out a murderous gang of counterfeiters. Their plan works too well - the gang leader hires Pat to kill Gene and sends his right-hand man to make sure that Gene's sidekick does the job right.
With the help of a pretty schoolteacher, Gene and Pat set up a ranch as a home for underprivileged boys. A gang of owlhoots try to force Gene off the ranch by making it appear he's not providing a safe place for the boys to live.
