Sex & Nudity

  • There are several subtle but precise references to adultery between Louis and Sibella but nothing is depicted beyond fully-clothed passionate embraces and kisses.

Violence & Gore

  • The Rector is seen to die by poison (closes his eyes and slumps into his chair).
  • Lady Agatha is seen breaking shop windows.
  • The Admiral is seen drowning (saluting as he po-faced goes under, with his hat left floating).
  • A bomb is seen to explode immediately in front of the General.
  • Louis slaps Lionel. They grapple. Lionel grabs a knife and Louis punches him out cold.
  • Gamekeeper Hoskins is heard beating a poacher with a stick.
  • Louis is seen firing the shot which kills Sir Ethelred. Sir Ethelred is not seen.

Profanity

  • The word "nigger" is used in the phrase "Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Mo. Catch a nigger by his toe. If he hollers, let him go. Out goes he" (a children's rhyme). It is then repeated twice in the same context by Louis and Sibella.
