Beware of dead bodies!
21 February 2012 | by See all my reviews

This "Mr Boniface" was so successful that a sequel ,"Boniface Somnambule" was filmed ;today it does not pass for a great Fernandel movie ;the screenplay is rather poor and the lines lack wit ,madness and finally humor;the movie is padded out with three songs, each one lousier than the one before .

Fernandel plays a simple man, like he often did -apparently a moron, but he who laughs last laughs best ,as everybody knows- who gets involved in an implausible story of gangsters in the wake of the discovery of a criminal's dead body in his own bed (natural death;it was apparently a showdown but he died of a heart attack); A window dresser,Boniface is in love with one of the girls of the shop;his adventures will help him conquer her .
