WARNING! SPOILERS AHEAD!

Dear Mr. Prohack is the story of a British Government official who is responsible for the budget of the Treasury Department. He is extremely frugal. When he comes into a private fortune of his own, he is quite incapable of managing it and all sorts of mishaps begin to occur within his family.

I enjoyed this film, which features Cecil Parker in the title role. His son is played by a shockingly young-looking Dirk Bogarde, and Glynis Johns is quite cute as the love interest.

The real reason I watched this movie was to see Jon Pertwee. This was an early role for him and he is quite unrecognisable if you're familiar with his 1970s appearances as Doctor Who #3. He has black hair in this film! Pertwee has a tiny role at the start of the film as one of Prohack's assistants, complete with silly voice.

A nice example of the sort of films they don't make anymore.
