Wake of The Red Witch is really one of the secrets of John Wayne's career. In terms of conjuring up a dark side and relating that in a man's troubled relationship making him question who he really is, Wayne probably stretched more acting muscles than in any other performance. The supporting cast is magnificent, but Gail Rusell walks off stealing the movie. The offbeat narration adds to the shroud of mystery.
