A train running through the middle of my head....
dbdumonteil24 February 2009
Von Stroheim portrays one more time a tormented soul,a physician whose wife was killed when two trains collided. In his mind,he can still hear his wife whisper "Stop the train!stop it!" .At night,he goes to the railroad track and becomes a saboteur;but when he comes back to his house,he cannot remember what he has done.A female colleague who takes care of his son (Denise Vernac,V.Stroheim's wife)discovers his secret and suggests he go to Vienna and consult a psychiatrist. When he returns ,he is cured...or he seems to be cured..

Sadly ,neither the screenplay nor the supporting characters are up to scratch. You do not have to be Hercule Poirot to guess why the glasses are on the track.Fans of Von Stroheim may be interested in this movie though.
