This is another of those cartoons in which the identity of the main character is open to debate. The skunk in this picture does not resemble Pepe Le Pew, or exhibit any of his mannerisms, personality or his voice in his one line of French dialogue. At best, Warner Brothers seems to classify it as an "unofficial" Pepe cartoon by including it on a Pepe home video collection. But ultimately, the identity of the character is a matter of opinion. Pepe Le Pew never sprayed anything on purpose, except a shark, that he thought might eat his "temporary date" in deep under water.
Among the physicians listed in the phone directory are Doctors Kildare and Jekyll. Doctor Gazunthett (a play on "Gesundheit") Doctor Zilch, Doctor Schnook, Doctor Shill, Doctor Szyklmno and Oh! Doctor are also shown.

The title is a pun on the phrase Order of the Day, which is a schedule to be followed. It is used in many settings: religious, military, legislative, etc.
At the time of this short, modern appliances of all kind were becoming part of American home life. However, the skunk's old fashioned laundry methods (including using a hand wringer) would still be familiar to cinema audiences.
