Alexander Korda thought the film was dreadful and would only be given a limited country release with no London showing, but another film failed and Korda's company was approached for a replacement. 'Nightbeat' was all that they could offer but at the press show the critics thought it was awful and the only good thing was the performance of Michael Medwin.
Before the lads' first patrol a list of missing cars is read out. One of them, ANY 129, is a real registration. A black Ford from 1935 which still existed as recently as 2022 and maybe still does.
