The lost is found - a neat British thriller.

Please refer to my other comment on this site for the plot narrative. At that time I feared the film was lost, but I have since discovered it through an obscure VHS company.

It is a neat British thriller - very Hitchcockian, but without Alfred's brilliant character touches. Douglass Montgomery in his last film role does quite well as the put upon husband, trapped in a marriage and in love with another woman. His plot to kill his wife goes terribly awry. I won't spoil it for you, but the twists are quite interesting. Here Douglass resembles a combination of Gary Cooper and Randolph Scott.

Patricia Burke as the trollop of a wife also does quite well and is physically reminiscent of a Joan Fontaine, but without the latter's class. Kenneth Griffith as the nasty and jealous Johnny reminds one of a Montgomery Clift. The score twists ISN'T IT ROMANTIC? into a dramatic underpinning.

All in all, a nice, neat little thriller - but oh, how it cries out for Alfred the Great!
