Storyline

Lord Brasted is in charge of a postwar fund for displaced persons. His secretary, Derek Waterhouse, visits the Prime Minister to accuse Brasted of taking money from the fund. This results in a libel case made difficult for Waterhouse for several reasons: the man who uncovered the fraud has committed suicide - or been murdered - in Prague, Lady Brasted is an old flame and being pretty devious, and he has been seeing the prosecuting lawyer's daughter. A bit stagey, but not too bad
23 June 2002 | by (Australia) – See all my reviews

Good if you like court-room dramas, also good if you like very long movies because this one positively drags - despite an excellent cast consisting of the wonderful Anne Crawford. If all the boring bits were cut out, this would be one fast paced and snappy little thriller. It starts off promising, with the murder that is done up to look like a suicide, but then fails to deliver anything quite as good until almost the very end. A little romance is of course woven into the plot, and most of the fun comes from young Claire Bloom.
