This film was billed as a sequel to The Spider Woman (1943), but the two have nothing in common except that Gale Sondergaard plays a villainess who handles spiders in both. The characters she plays in both films are not the same person, and both characters have different names.
Shooting lasted October 1-18, 1945, released March 22, 1946, following the death of Rondo Hatton on February 2.
Although 12 actors are listed on screen, five of them had their scenes removed from the final release print (which only runs 59 minutes): Ruth Robinson, Adda Gleason, Lois Austin, Tom Daly, and Eula Guy.
Part of the original Shock Theater package of 52 Universal titles released to television in 1957, followed a year later with Son of Shock, which added 20 more features.
