Anna Magnani Portrays a prostitute, sexy Mae West style, Who is prejudged by A catholic community of a Small Italian village , during the war.The priest Antonio, played by Antonio Gandusio,Finds a stranger ,A tall red man, with amnesia, played by Aural Milloss. One of the villagers, played by Victorio Desica, who's an atheist,Tries to help him. Leo and his wife don't get along ,played by Franca Belli, because of Leos Atheism. But this changes when the strange has amazing powers. All of a sudden no one oppose the prostitute and she can now go to church. He cross over a mine bomb and it doesn't explode. The Polish singer he meets Wanda, played by Renata Bogdnaska, is about to kill herself when she discovers her husband ,or boy friend had died in battle,But then he stops her.The catholic village has a procession. As he watches it he notices the cross. The cross brings back his memory. Surprise!.The spoiler .He was a member of a group of fascist and Nazis, who executed a bunch of catholic villagers for going through their procession. He then remember his German language. He realizes what he did wrong. He knows that the must put an end to his life to make up for what he did.He stands on the land mine.Liana the prostitute leave the village. The miracles are portrayed as psychological phenomena rather than magic. Aurel was excellent as the stranger.the cinema photography that shows a small village built from an old castle was good too. This actor ,who was the stranger looks like German actor Viktor Dekowa
