Following the hit SEE HERE, PRIVATE HARGROVE, this sequel attempts to replicate the originality and fun of that opus. It only succeeds in being mildly amusing, despite its undeserved Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay. Robert Walker is fun as the befuddled Hargrove and Keenan Wynn shines in a supporting role as his conniving friend. Chill Wills as the hated Sergeant Cramp is also good. There are some funny one liners but nothing to evoke more than a chuckle nowadays. It is certainly harmless but nothing to go out of your way for.
