When the Lady asks Bernadette to wash herself in the spring, Bernadette digs a hole and smears her face and hands with dark black mud. Moments later as the onlookers mock her, her aunt and mother take her away and the mud is gone from both her hands, while only slight fingermarks of mud remain on her cheeks.
When Bernadette and the other girls go to gather wood, the other girls cross the stream after removing their shoes and socks, at the same time telling Bernadette not to wade in the stream because the water is too cold and she is sickly. Later, she does, and the water is warm. All three are barefoot. However, when they grab their bundles of wood to run home, Bernadette has her shoes and socks back on.
In the beginning of the movie, when Soubirous goes out to seek a work for the day, we see the name of the street, written in French "Rue des Petites Fossées". The name is actually "Rue des Petits Fossés".
