Hello friends. Your mission, should you choose to accept it (Which You Will Cause I Said So) is to go see "Drive" this weekend. There is no other movie playing in theaters. Nope, not one. There, this column is over. Done! "Drive" is all there is to see. Worth seeing anyway. And I would be remiss if I didn't champion truly original and excellent filmmaking in this column. Do not go see "Lion King 3D." We are not children (if you are a child, why are you reading this? Stop now). Don't you remember that talk we had back when… »
Hello friends! I read the stats, I know I might have overloaded a few of you with my Mj series of videos. But the week before I might have overloaded you with too much text. Either I’m overloading you or not curating as well as I should, because I think Cycle 3 might be the last in 6 Things W/Da7e. I’ll come up with something y’all actually want to see/hear every week and then I’ll do That. This week, I’m going to take it light and easy for your Labor Day Weekend. Summer is over and we’re all a little sad, so we’re going to BBQ, drink during the afternoons and watch Football while all those things are an option. This weekend, you might want to make some comfort drinks like Ecto Cooler or check your e-mail and maybe watch a prank. »
Cinema Retro has received the following notice from Larry Edmunds Bookshop in Hollywood:
It has been a great summer here and it has been so cool to meet so many mailing list/ facebook friends that are out here enjoying California on vacation.
Also, a big thank you to all of you we've seen at our various signings and events here or at the Egyptian. It is such a pleasure always.
Wanted to make sure everyone knows about this show next Saturday night here in the bookstore. Author Chris Epting will be signing several of his titles including "James Dean Died Here" & "Elvis Presley Passed Here".
Dearly Departed's Scott Michaels will sign "Dearly Departed" & "Six Degrees of Charles Manson" dvds.
Chris & Scott will delight with a presentation about infamous spots where the famous called it a day. Who knows where the conversation may turn? It is also an overdue »

Hello friends, and welcome to Cycle Three of 6 Things W/Da7e! I’ll be back, taking you through 6 Things of interest per week between here and November, before I have to hibernate and compile a list of interesting things. And what better way to get back into the swing of things than discuss two things I like more than most: Sci-Fi and Time Travel. Specifically, I’m going to be looking at Star Trek: The Next Generation, which recently had it’s entire run made available to me on Netflix Watch Instantly. Tng, as I’ll refer to it from here on out, was the second Gene Roddenberry Trek Series and arguably the most successful incarnation of Roddenberry’s Utopian society trekking into the stars. The new crew of Captain Picard, Commander Riker, Lieutenants Worf and Data, Counsellor Deanna Troi, Doctor Beverly Crusher and Levar Burton from Reading Rainbow »
Hello friends, ill-wishers and people that clicked over here by accident. Is the ad to the right of the page cutting off the last words of the line for you, or is my browser being crappy on weekly basis? Not that I'm particularly eloquent or a fan of complete sentences. I write like a constipated man feasting on Taco Bell: brief potent nuggets followed by the run(on-sentences)s.Anywho. Some videos to share, some Cheesy Double Decker tacos to pass. It's all good! [The Beaver] I’m not sure when, if ever, having seen The Beaver will result in any content from me. So I might as well say my piece now, as The Beaver is in limited release. The Beaver (insert vagina joke here, just in case you haven’t heard them all, which I have, so I won’t) was written by Kyle Killen and was a former Black List script, »
Hello friends of IFC! I am Stacey Brook, music journalist, culture lover, rock poster addict, and overly-caffeinated festivalgoer. The inimitable Brandon Kim was unfortunately unable to make it out to Austin for SXSW this year, thus I have been entrusted with the honor of reporting to you from this fair desert city, where the taco trucks outnumber the general population, and where the sweet sounds of rock and roll seep out from behind every bar door.
Over the next few days I will bring you coverage of everything from the most exclusive showcases, to unexpectedly powerful performances by an eclectic mix of bands worthy of your recognition. Look forward to recaps of the IFC Crossroad House's coveted performances, as well as breaking news and announcements from the festival. From early morning until I turn into a pumpkin (usually around 3am), my ears will be perked to uncover this year's finest »
