JOLLY ROMANTIC COMEDY
J. Steed19 September 1999
The script for this film was made by Erich Kästner using the same pseudonym - Berthold Bürger - as he used for "Münchhausen" of the same year. Based on his own novel he made a fine script that was directed by Hans Deppe with great fun, though the film starts a bit slow. But after Willy Fritsch's first encounter with Hertha Feiler the film gets going and then we have a very jolly romantic comedy with good cast. Fritsch probably was the only one who could get away with a part as a professor who does research into the manner how people laugh and in radiant Hertha Feiler he has a perfect partner.
