22 October 2014 7:54 AM, PDT | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - TV news news »

Ed Sheeran has revealed that he is backing "fantastic" X Factor singer Andrea Faustini on the ITV show this year.

The 23-year-old songwriter admitted that he was even compelled to text Simon Cowell about his admiration for the finalist.

"I texted Cowell about the Italian dude because I think he is fantastic," Sheeran told The Sun.

"I like his love of pugs as well that he gives no f**k and wears whatever he wants."

Faustini is in Mel B's Boys category along with Jake Quickenden, Paul Akister and Jack Walton.

Cowell recently revealed that he had received a text message from One Direction's Liam Payne about how much he loved Walton, who was brought back to the show by Cowell with a wildcard.

Kate Moss also spoke of her love for Faustini as she, Noel Gallagher and Naomi Campbell watched his performance on The X Factor during »

X Factor: The 12 acts who should definitely make the Live Shows

30 September 2014 8:25 AM, PDT | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - TV news news »

Everyone knows that the best week of X Factor every year is Judges House. Don't talk to us about Six Chair Challenges, this is the real deal.

Blending heartbreak, tears, Sinitta dressed in only some palm leaves and ludicrous Louis Walsh decisions, it's a microcosm of the entire show squeezed into one handy bite-size chunk of weekend telly.

But who deserves to make the cut and who should be going home on an EasyJet flight from Barbados with nothing more than a Dermot O'Leary hug to comfort them?

Here are the Top 12 acts who we believe must make the Live Shows.

The Boys

1. Andrea Faustini

First name on the team sheet. This Italian pug-lover simply has to be in Mel B's Top 3. His rendition of 'I Didn't Know My Own Strength' at Boot Camp left us a blubbering wreck and he's also the No.1 contestant we would most like to give a cuddle. »

Lady Gaga is firing back at those criticizing her weight.

In a series of tweets Monday, Gaga, 28, expressed frustration at negative comments bashing her for appearing to have gained weight. The comments started after she shared this Instagram pic of her clad in a nude bathing suit while going for a night swim.

Slackery News Tidbits: July 28, 2014

Here's the latest Austin and Texas film news.

Slackerwood isn't at San Diego Comic-Con this year but plenty of Austin people are, including local filmmaker Robert Rodriguez. Indiewire has a roundup of the Sin City: A Dame to Kill For panel with Rodriguez, co-director Frank Miller, and several cast members. The article also includes a new (short) red-band trailer for the Sin City sequel, which hits theaters August 22.We don't normally include images with Slackery News Tidbits, but the newly revealed 2014 Texas Book Festival poster (pictured right) featuring the Texas Theatre in Seguin is so gorgeous, I couldn't resist. (Someone tell me how to get one of these, please.) In addition, the festival announced eight authors that will attend -- quite an eclectic bunch, from Martin Amis to Ziggy Marley, and from Valerie Plame Wilson to chef Lidia Bastianich. Texas Book Festival runs from Oct. 25-26 ... as usual, conflicting with Austin Film Festival, »

R.I.P. Eli Wallach: 1915 – 2014

25 June 2014 7:54 AM, PDT | | See recent news »

Oscar, Tony, and Emmy-winner Eli Wallach has passed away at the age of 98.  Wallach, a Method actor who was an original member of the Actor's Studio, was perhaps best known for his role as Tuco, aka 'The ugly', in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.  Sergio Leone's 1966 spaghetti western is one of my all-time favorite films, and Wallach is unforgettable in it.  He's filthy, crass, unrefined, and absolutely charming.  His character has one of the best pieces of advice of any chatty killer: "When you have to shoot, shoot.  Don't talk."  It's a line that perfectly sums up his character in the span of less than ten seconds.  He's ruthless, unfair, and funny, and Wallach made the character feel real rather than contrived or exaggerated. Hit the jump for more. During his 65-year career, Wallach appeared in more than 80 films, numerous Broadway productions (he won a Tony for »

Rhonyc: Sonja Morgan & LuAnn de Lesseps Take Aim at One Another

25 June 2014 3:15 AM, PDT | | See recent news »

The Real Housewives of New York City were, quite literally, fish out of water on Tuesday. On a trip to Montana, the wives tried their manicured hands at a lot of outdoor activities, including fly-fishing, but largely came up empty-handed. "I had a vision of fish flying out of the water," said Kristen Taekman, while Ramona Singer worried more about the fishy fashion. "The worst part of fly-fishing is the outfit … I look like Humpty Dumpty." But at least Humpty Dumpty and Bff Sonja Morgan caught a fish - with the help of their guide - while Heather Thomson let one slip off her hook, »

22 Jump Street, chemistry and slapstick comedy

5 June 2014 2:33 AM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

With 22 Jump Street out now, we look at the screen pairing of Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum, and their own brand of slapstick comedy...

Nb: If you hated 21 Jump Street, you may want to skip this article.

There’s a moment early in 22 Jump Street where Deputy Chief Hardy (a returning Nick Offerman) jokes openly about the rules of movies sequels: “Do the same thing again,” he deadpans, “and everyone’s happy.”

It’s this kind of self-referential humour which could be seen to mark 22 Jump Street out as a post-modern comedy, yet the greater percentage of its means of getting laughs are as old as the hills: insults, misunderstandings, pratfalls and wilfully bad jokes. The winning formula was set up, of course, in 2012‘s 21 Jump Street - a large-screen adaptation of the 80s TV show of the same name, which, it’s probably fair to say, wasn’t »
