Storyline

Having being left a widow when her sons were young, Margaret Patters struggles to bring them up on the limited family finances. When they reach manhood, they cause her much travail because, each in his own way, is selfish and irresponsible; Charley, who can't keep a job because he would rather stay home on practice on his trombone; Eddie, a self-proclaimed sports promoter who has nothing to promote; and Kenneth, a struggling actor whose talents are mostly struggling. They all have to register for the pre-World War II draft, and each has all kinds of new ailments and excuses for not being drafted into the Army. Aunt Lottie has had enough, and she takes charge. Standard Warner Brothers 1940's fluff
30 May 2000 | by (Parkersburg, West Virginia) – See all my reviews

I didn't mean for that summary to sound as bad as it did, because I like these "little" films that are filled with people that only a movie buff would know.

This is a very good film, at least to me it was, it wasn't "Citizen Kane" or "Gone With the Wind", but then what movie is?

The plot is about three brothers who try to avoid the draft and how they go about doing so, or at least trying to.

Marjorie Rambeau is just wonderful as the aunt and Wayne Morris, William Orr and Tom Brown are also very good as the three sons.
