A newspaper man, his ignored fiancée, and his former employee, a down on his luck reporter, hatch an elaborate scheme to turn a false news story into the truth in order to prevent a high-society woman from suing for libel.
Steve and Susan Ireland are about to celebrate their 4th wedding anniversary by re-enacting their first date. When Susan's meddling mother interrupts and injures herself. Steve is left to take care of her and when he meets an old flame in the elevator--Susan's mother takes the opportunity to break-up their marriage. This is another great comedy with William Powell and Myrna Loy. The elevator scene in this movie is just one of the hilarious scenes. I've watched this movie at least 20 times and every time I watch the elevator skit I laugh as much as I did the first time.
