Sáenz de Heredia, Valeriano Leon and a great script.
2 December 2012 | by (Spain) – See all my reviews

José Luis Sáenz de Heredia, one of the most important filmmakers of the forties "Raza" 1942 "Mariona Rebull" 1947, Historias de la Radio" 1955, "El grano de mostaza" 1962, "Don Erre que Erre" 1970 …was the writer and director of this quirky comedy, in which a school teacher has hypnotic powers. Employment terminates, for obvious reasons, but it is blessed with a heritage in America. When it turns out that there is no fortune, and then it has to capitalize on his peculiar power.

But "A mi no me mire usted" is a completely foreign film of its time, very out of place in his scenes just living beyond penury Spain following its civil war. It is, somehow, a "comedy of white telephones" (as it was known in Italy this kind of comedy evasion), but paradoxically in this film are not those phones. "A mi no me mire usted" is an entertainment product, of course well settled professionally, as you would expect from a prestigious author, with the then famous player Valeriano Leon "El Piyayo" 1956, and "El Padre Pitillo" 1955, as splendid protagonist.

Only comment is that this film has an excellent script that would have given a good "remake".
