Blazing trail for the telegraph
bkoganbing26 June 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Things get a little misty a sentimental in this 3 Mesquiteers western, The Trail Blazers. The boys are working with their good friend Carroll Nye and his wife Mary Field to get a telegraph line built. But outlaws who know what value the telegraph is are trying to stop it at any price. They are secretly led by town newspaper publisher Weldon Heyburn whose a vicious villain when aroused.

Major Tom Chatterton has to be the biggest horse's patoot in the army. As a career army man he would have seen in the Civil War how valuable the telegraph was for the Union side. His opposition to the telegraph leaves me baffled.

But the scenes with the Mesquiteers with the infant baby of Nye and Field are nicely played. Heyburn massacred the telegraph work party leaving only the infant alive. That gives Bob Livingston, Bob Steele, and Rufe Davis personal reasons to get the outlaws.

Silly in spots, but poignant in others The Trail Blazers will please 3 Mesquiteer fans.
