Despite an interesting plot idea, a film that is only adequate.

I saw this on a DVD from Alpha Video and it's in rather rough condition. But considering it's probably the only way to see it, you'll have to check out this DVD if you want to see this B-western.

Marshall Tim Smith (McCoy) is on his way to a town to stop cattle rustlers. However, the rustlers end up killing a man who they think is him and Smith assumes the dead man's identity in order to infiltrate the mob. Now here's a very ironic twist...the leader of the baddies now wants Tim to pretend to be the new marshall...which, he actually already is!

Despite the unusual plot, which I appreciated, this is a very standard Tim McCoy vehicle...neither good nor bad.

By the way, if you watch McCoy's odd style, don't think it didn't serve him well! McCoy, before becoming a movie star, was a trick shooter who traveled the country and demonstrated his considerable skills.

A bizarre plot but also a very average western.

Many of Tim McCoy's old westerns are to be found on YouTube and on a few channels on the Roku/Amazon Fire device. However, I have not been able to locate "Texas Renegades" except on a DVD from Alpha Video and it's in rather rough condition. But considering it's probably the only way to see it, you'll have to check out this DVD.
