Excellent Viennese Comedy
8 November 2012 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

This was another secret anti Nazi Viennese film.Done around 1940.With a cast of Viennese actors or shall we say Schaupsieleren?Although i.m.d.b advertises it as made in Germany ,it wasn't. It was made in Vienna. It is a Hans Moser comedy.A comedy of confusion. Hans portrays owner of a Viennese Heimat Grocery store and goods. He gets a a letter from his daughter, played by Elfriede Datzig of rose in Tirol,Black and white, that she got married,I think. He had already promised her to another local redneck .So he goes down there and tries to stop it.The fact is that she married to a chauffeur, played by Ow fisher of King Ludwig and Cuba Cubana and she works as a maid for a wealthy family.Hans thinks that she has married a wealthy man. This is some what of a my man Godfrey variation. Her employer Felix Frisch, played by Hans Olden ,of Gluck Bie Frauen 1944, is a wealthy business man who is married to a young Dorit Kreysler ,but, he's fooling around with dumb Aryan blond, played by Charlotte Daudert, who played these types during the war. The funny part is that he, the wealthy business man has a young wife too, but , that's part of the comedy. Dorit knows he's fooling around and gets mad at him, until he finds out she's guilty too, she has an admirer. So she's off to Aunt Ottilie, played by Austrian character actress Hedwig Bliebetreu,of third man fame, with Hans daughter.Annie Rosar,of Die Goldene Staht fame, plays the spying house keeper, Every time she sticks her ears near the door to hear what they are saying, she get her head knocked when they open the door. The confusion comes when Hans thinks that Frisch is her daughter's husband and Charlotte is trying to break them up, when the bill collector comes to the mans house for the bracelet ,becuase of the bill.He storms to Charlotte's apartment and takes all her clothe and jewelry away ,thinking he is saving his daughters marriage. When Dorit Father, played by Theodore Danegger, finds out something outrageous about his daughter, he confront Hans where he stating that he's the father of what Hans thinks its his daughter .Then when his daughter finally come home with Dorit and confront his daughter with the chauffeur ,now he thinks she's carrying on and leaves being mad at her.But finally the joke ends on him.good comedy during the enemies side of the war from Vienna .11/08/12
