Sacrificing at the price of one's heart.

Warning: Spoilers
In what is basically a screen test for various ypung actors around the Paramount lot, this soap opera of young marriage involves several young married couples fresh out of college, trying to settle into domesticity and finding problems at every turn. Joseph Allen is a promisong scientist who marries girlfriend Jeanne Cagney, defying the advice of his mentor, professor Lawrence Grossmith who makes it clear that he is supposed to Cagney in every way. Theyy share a house and living expenses with fellow married couple pals Virginia Dale and Peter Lind Hayes who are rather irresponsible and cause them much frustration. When Grossmith offers Allenthe chance to go off with him on a year-long project that would benefit his career greatly, Cagney decides to sacrifice her own happiness so he can move up in his career.

The only recognizable face in this film is veteran actress Una O'Connor, once again playing a braying housekeeper. this adds a freshness to the experimental drama and while none of the actors became stars, they do their best with the material that they are given. This takes them from their last year of college several years hence, and shows how the interference of friends (among them an unrecognizable Marge Champion) can destroy a brand new marriage in the making. Hayes, who went on to a decent career, is probably the best of the four, playing a extremely audacious character home in spite of his immaturity, you can't help like.

Some of the plot elements are a bit convoluted, and the conclusion involving Grossmith's chamge of heart preposterous. In fact, his character is completely dislikable, one dimensional and just very difficult to watch. The film's attempts at humor fall flat, and the whole house sharing sequences equally as harsh as Grossmith's presence.
